Add a section to an Act
Use this process when your council needs to record a delegation against a section that is not already available in the Act.
- Open Acts and select the relevant Act.
- Check that the section is not already listed or hidden, then select Add New Section.
- If needed, use View Full Act to confirm the current section wording on the official New Zealand Legislation website.
- Complete the section details:
- Section — the section or clause number. This field is required.
- Summary — a concise description of what the provision covers.
- Description — the relevant provision or explanatory detail.
- Related Memos — select any supporting resolution, memo or other approval record already held in LocoDELEGATIONS.
- Sort Order — controls where the section appears within the Act.
- Save the new section. If Add Delegates is shown during creation, selecting it saves the section and returns you to the Act. Open the new section and select Edit to complete the assignments.
Assign delegates
In the section editor, use one of the following options under Appointed To:
- Select Delegate Group, then Add Group, to add every role in a reusable delegate group.
- Select Delegate Role, then Add New Delegate, to add an individual role.
Review the issue date, review date, sort order and hierarchy for each assignment. Add or confirm the related memo, then select Save.
Check the saved section
Confirm that the section displays the correct roles and, where applicable, the resolution date and resolution number from the attached memo.
